This captivating Akaraku (Red Raku) tea bowl, crafted by 7th-generation master Kawasaki Waraku (b. 1936), embodies the heart of Kyoto Raku tradition. As head of the historic Waraku kiln, Waraku continues a legacy built on the philosophy of "One and Only"—where each piece is hand-shaped, never wheel-thrown, and utterly unique.
Rooted in the aesthetics of wabi-sabi, the bowl’s soft red glaze and natural asymmetry reflect the beauty of imperfection and impermanence. Waraku’s mastery is not only technical but deeply spiritual—his work has been honored by the Japanese Imperial Household, a rare distinction that affirms the kiln’s cultural significance.
Housed in its original signed wooden box.
